Carnivore Mode: Restriction or Freedom?

Many people think of carnivore as the most restrictive elimination diet there is. And while that may be technically true, I find that a bit of a change in outlook can broaden the perspective about what diet restriction has to offer. One virtue that is unanimously prevalent in successful individuals, is discipline. IF, you are here because you wish to improve yourself, or because you've lost control of your progress towards your goals, a healthy does of discipline might be all you need to zone back in. And I don't mean disciplinary action, although that may be necessary, I mean accountability. Routinely following a restrictive diet of the highest order, will build discipline, and discipline breeds success. You may think you're well disciplined when you piously reject the last piece of cake at the party, or shun the cookie jar on a Friday night. And honestly, good on you, but try eliminating your coffee every day, or your avocado toast, or Taco Tuesday. You might think that sounds rather painful, but building positive habits takes effort, persistent effort creates discipline, and real discipline, is absolute control, over your body, and over your mind. And when you have that kind of control over yourself, that is freedom.

You may have heard this time and again from every shredded fitness influencer to successful business owner, " Consistency is key." This is the type of thing that really tends to go over most people's heads. It's the antithesis of our convenience driven society, where instant gratification and same day delivery tend the blur the way our choices today can impact our results tomorrow, infinitely. This is another area where a change in perspective is quite necessary to fully grasp the gravity of consistency. It takes an average of 30-60 days to develop a new habit, and how long have you been going for your morning donut? Or the drive-thru burger and fries? 4-5 years? Now, steak and eggs instead of a donut, today, might not reverse the past 5 years of donuts, but what about steak and eggs every day for 30 days? Or how about 60? Or maybe even just long enough for the next iphone to launch? By the time you go to upgrade your phone, your entire physical and mental existence will have upgraded far beyond what you might expect. Is it really just about restricting your eating habits? Being content with making decisions that temporarily trigger a dopamine response, at the expense of your future, is a ball and chain. Being capable of consistently choosing to progress forward in a positive direction, for the betterment of self, is freedom.

Being in the Carnivore mode can be life changing, but changing your life takes time, and patience. Patience is the ultimate virtue consisting of discipline, consistency, and dedication, and is guaranteed to test your grit. A great example is the following question, "Would you rather have one million dollars deposited into your account today, or one penny, doubled, for the next 30 days?" Most people, who either aren't particularly amazing at mental math, or just caught up in our now now now lifestyle, would choose the one million dollars today. Only to find out that, in 30 days, those who chose the penny, doubled every day, ended up with over five million dollars. You already know that you aren't happy with where you're at with your fitness, or with your perspective. You already know you are definitely getting up in the morning to go to work, and subsequently the next day, and again for the next 30 days AT LEAST. So choose the penny. And let it double, every day. Watch your body transform right before your eyes. Experience your mental clarity hone in for the first time in years. Clear out your fridge, and your cabinets. Grab some steak and eggs, and go Carnivore Mode.
